December Wrap-up 2017

It’s hard to believe but 2017 is almost over and we are getting ready for 2018. December is a time to reflect on the previous year and we here at Audiology with a Heart are not immune to this tendency.

Low-income programs

Pay it Forward:
Due to your generosity with donations of hearing aids, we were able to provide 17 people with donated hearing aids. The recipients of the hearing aids were extremely grateful and happy to be able to function again.
Piggy Bank:
All financial donations are set aside in order to help people purchase new hearing aids. In 2017, again due to your generosity, we were able to help 11 people (a mixture of Adults and Seniors) acquire hearing aids that they would not have been able to afford otherwise.
We also work closely with the Children’s Services Council and the Jewish Family Services Holocaust Program and were able to assist their clients acquire hearing aids.
Remember hearing aids and hearing aid supplies are tax deductible as a medical expense if you itemize your taxes. We are happy to provide you with invoices for 2017 if you no longer have them. For those people that are self-employed, hearing aids can be deducted as a business expense.
Financial donations to Audiology with a Heart are also deductible as a charitable donation as are old hearing aids. Remember we take old hearing aids as donations. Those hearing aids are either used here at the office for low-income people or we donate them in turn to a company that uses them in Third World countries to help hearing impaired children.
The cookbook that we compiled can also be included as a charitable donation; we suggest a $10.00 donation and are happy to provide a receipt for your records.

New for 2018

Constant Contact e-mails:
We are now working with Constant Contact when we send the monthly newsletter through e-mails. If we do not have your e-mail address and you would like to receive them, please send a message to so we can add you to the list. If you would prefer not to receive e-mails, please send that preference to the same address and we will no longer send you those monthly newsletters.
VA testing:
As part of the Veteran’s Administration plan to service Veterans as quickly as possible, we have begun providing hearing tests to Veterans in order to help expedite the process of determining their disability ratings. These tests are scheduled through the VA and cannot be scheduled by the Veteran on their own.
Voter Registration:
We are in the process of becoming a location where
people can register to vote and/or update their registration. I hope to have more information in the near future about collaborating with the League of Women Voters to help disseminate information about recent changes to Florida’s voting rules.  As part of this outreach project, we are working with Palm Beach County Deaf Club and the League of Women Voter’s to schedule an informational event for our Deaf neighbors.
Sign Language Classes:
We are planning Sign Language Classes for the Spring of 2018. If you are interested, we would like to gauge the interest level, please either call 561-366-7219 or e-mail and we will add to the list.
We are always available to speak with your club or organization and answer questions about hearing loss, hearing aids and the amplified phones. Please call Fred to schedule your event! We are currently planning an informational seminar on Cochlear Implants for after the first of the year. More information will be coming so if you are interested, watch this space!

Thank you
Fred and I want to express our thanks to all of you for your continued support this past year. We are here to help you, your family and your friends through the journey called hearing loss. Hearing loss doesn’t just impact one person, it affects everyone around you and sometimes we need someone to walk with us.

Please consider a donation so we can continue to provide services to those in need of hearing help.
